September is National Suicide Prevention Month. There are a variety of factors that can lead to thoughts and attempts in suicide. Among youth and young adults ages 10-24 years, suicide is the second (2nd) leading cause of death and it accounts for 15% of all suicides. However, this rate is not evenly distributed. Sexual and gender minorities, people of color, and tribal populations are some of the groups identified as experiencing suicidal health disparities.
